Geo Targeting (Targeting 1.0)

This article is relevant only to customers on Targeting 1.0. For Targeting 2.0, please find the relevant article here.

Geo targeting is very commonly used and can be used in INCLUDE or EXCLUDE fashion. Beeswax augments the auction with geo data from a 3rd party data provider (MaxMind), so geographic data is almost always present for targeting.

Targeting Key Description Recommendation
Country Country of the user Use as INCLUDE or EXCLUDE targeting
Region Region of the user. In the United States, this is the two-letter State abbreviation. Use as INCLUDE or EXCLUDE targeting
Zip Zip code or postal code of the user. For zip codes, you can either enter zip codes directly in the “Zip” field as a comma separated list.   Zip targeting does also accommodate for international postal codes, but please contact Beeswax Support first to obtain the specifics of what the matching value formats are for various countries.
For any list of zip codes greater than 100 we recommend create a “Zip Code List”.
To create a Zip Code list follow these steps:
  • Click on the +New button and select “List” from the drop down
  • Select “Zip Code List” from the List Type drop down
  • Give your List a name and click “Save & Continue”
  • Either your zip codes in the “Add New List Items” field OR upload a .txt of your zip codes OR upload a .csv file of zip codes (also one per row)
  • If entering zip codes in the “Add New List Items” field enter zip code per row
  • If uploading a bulk file it must be a .txt file with one domain per rowOnce you create your List, you will see it appear in the Zip Code List targeting section on the Line Item level. You can then INCLUDE or EXCLUDE target your list from this screen.

Note that a list can only hold up to 15000 items.  You would need to create multiple lists if the length is greater than 15000 items.
